“Behind every child who believes in himself is a parent who believed first.”
Matthew L. Jacobson
Parental Engagement
What’s the most accurate predictor of academic achievement for a child? It’s not socioeconomic status, nor how prestigious the school is that a child attends. The best predictor of student success is the extent to which parents and schools together encourage learning and involve themselves in a child’s education.
The key trigger here is ‘together’. Parents and guardians should be at the heart of any child’s education. While teachers are there at the front of the classroom, it’s the family you come home to who provide an essential foundation for academic success. That’s why we believe that when parents are engaged in their children’s school lives, students have the home support and knowledge they need to develop a lifelong love of learning.
Encouraging parent engagement is more than common courtesy. It is one of the best ways to create a positive learning environment for every student. To create a community built on an active parent-teacher engagement, The Vantage takes a pivotal role in establishing and nurturing an efficient parent-school relationship.
BRIDGING GAPS
“At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child’s success is the positive involvement of parents” – Jane D. Hull
The relationship between schools and community is a complicated subject that can incorporate a myriad of voices in an often-inharmonious discourse about culture, knowledge, and standards. However, we at The Vantage believe and practice in an open and effective engagement and communication channel with the parents to perpetuate an outstanding and lifelong learning experience for our students.
Close communication is at the core of our partnership approach. Keeping guardians in the loop regarding their child’s progress is an essential part of what we do. From consultation meetings and engagements to written reports and messages, The Vantage has an “open door” policy which ensures parents can speak with us at any stage as we keep those all-important channels of communication wide open.
